SUMMER 2019 CLASSES

SUPPLIES NEEDED

  • Each student must bring these items to class every day.  

  • Each student must have their own, siblings cannot share.

    • Tablet//laptop with built-in camera and WiFi capability and battery power for 4 or 8 hours (depending on course are registered for).

    • 12 oz. or larger refillable water bottle with lid.  Marked with student’s name.

    • Pens/pencils

    • Notebook

    • Filler paper

    • Sunscreen

    • Hat

    • Snack(s) for break time(s).  

      • Half day classes will have one break, full day classes will have two breaks.

      • Due to the prevalence of nut allergies ABSOLUTELY NO NUT PRODUCTS MAY BE BROUGHT TO CLASS

DREAMROADS STAFF

  • All DreamRoads staff and Coaches are background checked

STUDENT DROP OFF/PICK UP     

  • Students may not be dropped off at the class location more than 15 minutes prior to the start of class.

  • Students must be picked up at the class location within 15 minutes of the end of class.

  • With Final Registration Parent/Guardian may give permission for student(s) to walk, ride bike, or ride in car with someone other than Parent/Guardian upon leaving class.

  • Students must stay in the location(s) designated by the DreamRoads staff at all times. Students are not permitted in unauthorized locations of any sites where DreamRoads classes are held.

  • Every student will sign in with name, date, time when arriving on site and sign out with name, date, time when departing site each day.

COACHING

  • All Coaching takes place online(videoconferencing).

  • All Coaching sessions (videoconferencing) are recorded and archived.  

  • Students may be asked to do some additional online DreamRoads coursework and/or to complete individualized Action Steps they outline for themselves during the month prior to a Coaching session.  It is the responsibility of the parent/guardian to ensure that their child(ren) have completed the necessary work prior to each coaching session in order to make the coaching session effective and productive.

CELL PHONE POLICY

  • Students will not be able to use their cell phones during class time.  If you must reach your child(ren) during class time, please call -- don’t text -- call:

  • Students will be able to check their texts/messages and make or return calls during break time, and after class has ended.

  • Break time will be approximately 10:30-11:00 AM   and   2:30 – 3:00 PM each day, but may vary due to class activities.

COMMUNICATION WITH STUDENTS

  • Coaches and DreamRoads staff will email students from their email account TO THE STUDENT’S PARENT/GUARDIAN EMAIL.  

  • Students and Coaches/DreamRoads staff are not permitted to email each other using the student’s personal email address, or communicate through Facebook, Instagram, or any other social media platforms. 

  • Coaches will primarily email students to set up a mutually convenient time for the Coach and their small group (3-4 students) to teleconference for the monthly coaching sessions.

  • Coaches may also communicate with students to pass along information relevant to the student’s dreams/interests/strengths, etc; encourage them; remind them of Action Steps to be completed; etc.  

  • If a response is required from the student, it is the responsibility of the parent/guardian to ensure that the student responds to the Coach in a timely manner.

MEDICAL​

  • It is the responsibility of each student’s parent/guardian to notify a DreamRoads staff member before the first day of class if the student has an on-going medical concern.   If a medical issue develops during the course of the class, the parent/guardian will immediately notify a DreamRoads staff member.

    • All disclosures will remain confidential

  • NO MEDICATIONS (PRESCRIPTION OR OVER-THE-COUNTER) WILL BE ADMINISTERED TO ANY STUDENT WHILE IN THE CARE OF DREAMROADS STAFF.  If such is necessary during class hours, the student’s parent/guardian must come to the class site and administer.

    • The only exception to this policy is an asthma inhaler, which will be administered by the student themselves.

  • STUDENTS ARE NOT ALLOWED TO BRING OR TAKE ANY PRESCRIPTION OR OVER-THE-COUNTER MEDICATION WHILE IN THE CARE OF DREAMROADS STAFF

    • The only exception to this policy is an asthma inhaler, which will be administered by the student themselves.

  • In the case that a student doesn’t feel well during class, the parent/guardian will be called to pick the student up immediately.

  • If DreamRoads staff believe, in their sole discretion, that the student needs immediate emergency care, 911 will be called.  Any expenses incurred for emergency care will be paid in full by the parent/guardian.

  • There will not be a nurse or other medical person available on-site during class hours.
